Bad Credit Mortgages

Sometimes life throws you a curveball such as the loss of a job or the separation from a partner. This can have a knock-on effect with your credit file making it tricky to obtain a mortgage. Its true you may have to pay a slightly higher rate and find a slightly larger deposit, but in many cases it’s still possible to have a mortgage agreed. These type of mortgages are known as “Bad Credit” mortgages or “Sub-Prime” mortgages.

Many people believe that because of their credit file it’s impossible for them to get a mortgage. In some cases this can be true, however, there are a wide range of lenders in the market that can potentially assist.

The first place to start is to obtain a copy of your credit file. We ask this of each and every client we speak to. This can save an awful lot of time for both parties. Once we have seen the credit file, we can pretty much tell you where we are going to be able to place your application. If your credit is in a place where its not possible to do something right away, we can give you an indication as to when in the future we would be able to assist.

The lenders that specialise with adverse credit often base a decision to lend on what the adverse credit is in respect of the cause and the severity, the age of the credit issue and how close you met the rest of the lenders other criteria, such as affordability.
